Fall In Love With Your Yoga Practice

Updated: Apr 16, 2022

Some days pulling out the yoga mat seems like a daunting chore rather than an exciting self-improving experience. So we give ourselves permission to skip practice for a day. Skipping one day turns into skipping the next day and the next day... Then all of a sudden we have fallen out of our routine and we are back to facing back pain, hip pain, neck pain, anxiety and zero focus! Jeez, all of that side-effect?

Why are you not sticking to your practice consistently? In a world of constant stimulus and change, consistency can sometimes get boring. No need to force yourself to sit and meditate. Instead go with the times and add some new stimulus to your practice and re-ignite your fire.

Let go of the idea and pictures in your head of what yoga is supposed to look like.

  1. Switch Up Your Routine: Yoga doesn’t have to look perfect. Play around with what the beginning, middle and end of your practice looks like. Keep it fresh. If you struggle with how to put your flow together, I’m here for you.

  2. Add Sound Flavor: If pop music puts you in the mood to move on your mat, put it on. If you want to incorporate a body weight high intensity workout that ends with a 10 minute Savasana, get it! Everyone finds the connection to their mind and body differently. Changing up the type of music that matches your mood releases feel good chemicals in your brain. 3. Smells: Scents directly go to the limbic system, activating emotion and memory. Spray your room with your favorite scent, diffuse some essential oils, light candles or incense. Observe how changing the aroma of your environment taps into focus and something more meaningful.

  4. Pick a New Pose: Often we get stuck in always doing the same poses, downdogs, forward folds and warrior two’s. Aim for something different! Look up a new pose that looks intriguing. I’m here to help you take the right steps to accessing that pose.

  5. Buy a New Prop: Yoga props are amazing! I can’t get enough of how much better my practice gets each time I utilize my props. Here is a shopping list of props (click the link here). Contact me if you need help deciding which yoga props would work best for you.

Don't allow your mind to depict when you take care of yourself. Move the body and your mind will follow.

In light and Love,
